Position Summary
We are looking for a Principal Data Scientist to join our Government Consumer Analytics team at CVS Health. This high-level individual contributor will partner closely with the AVP of Government Consumer Analytics to drive technical excellence across complex projects, lead a culture of rigor, and define standards for an organization of approximately 80 data scientists and engineers.
Description / Fundamental Components:
Hands-On Data Science Excellence for Highly Complex Projects (60%)

• 
  
• Anticipates and solves strategic, high-risk business problems with broad impact by applying advanced theories and techniques.
  
• Leads development and execution of complex algorithms and predictive models, evaluating scenarios and future outcomes.
  
• Establishes analytical rigor using advanced statistical techniques and mathematical analyses on large datasets.
  
• Evaluates industry-leading approaches to incorporate into CVS Health's technical approach.
  
• Manages 2-3 highly complex projects simultaneously, balancing hands-on work, problem solving, and coaching.
  
  Technical Development & Mentorship (25%)

  • Holds team-wide office hours for technical challenges.
    
  • Provides 1:1 technical coaching to 10-20 team members.
    
    Define Data Science Standards & Best Practices (15%)
    
    • 
      
    • Identifies opportunities for improved best practices.
      
    • Guides enterprise-wide analytics strategy and roadmap.
      
      Required Qualifications
      
      • 
        
      • 10+ years of progressively complex analytics experience.
        
      • 8+ years leading analytics projects from concept to delivery, coordinating stakeholders, and driving impact.
        
      • 8+ years working with advanced analytics tools, languages, and analyzing large, diverse data sets.
        
      • 8+ years solving analytics problems using statistics, machine learning, algorithms, and predictive modeling.
        
      • 8+ years' experience with Python, SQL, Cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure), machine learning, causal inference, and experimental design.
        
      • 5+ years demonstrating strong communication skills, including presenting complex ideas to varied audiences.

        • Knowledge of healthcare industry, products, systems, and strategies.

          • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, Physics, Operations Research, Engineering, or related field.
            
          • Master's degree or PhD preferred.
            
            Pay Range
            The typical pay range for this role is $144,200 - $288,400. Actual salary depends on experience, education, location, and other factors. The role is eligible for bonuses, incentives, and equity awards.
