THE CHALLENGEGlobal Technology & Operations plays a critical role in supporting AB's infrastructure, global technology and operations functions, as well as partnering with the business to deliver new products and expand the business in new and innovative ways.On the technology side, the ACE (automated cashflow entry) system interfaces directly, often in real time, with more than a dozen critical production applications that in turn support critical and diverse business needs. The business has entrusted the ACE team to help solve their business challenges. The Programmer / Analyst will contribute to the best approach and solution, as well as work on projects that directly impact the business' ability to support new financial products. If you are looking for an opportunity to be a trusted and respected technical advisor, this may be a perfect fit for you.THE TEAMThe ACE (Automated Cashflow Entry) team is responsible for enhancing and supporting the ACE application accessed by 1500+ global users, 24 hours a day, six days a week. ACE exclusively manages all cash movements, controls asset movements, Corporate Actions processing, currency purchases, and account opening/maintenance at AB. We are a team within the Business Process Innovation department.The team works directly with the business on developing processes to address their issues. The development process evolves with an understanding of business needs, proven through iterations, which reveals the ideal solution and best approach to accomplish the business' task.THE ROLEThe Programmer Analyst will work closely with Application architects to deliver new solutions within the existing ACE application framework, consolidate and upgrade existing functions, and provide production support to a large user population.The ACE application is a moderately high volume, transactional system that processes roughly 80 different workflows and transaction types. ACE transactions vary in function from simply moving information to be refined by different departments, to moving, posting or trading, either securities or cash. A successful candidate will be risk-aware, business focused, cool-headed, and technically working with business partners, the candidate's coding fluency will be a success factor in this partnership as the code is adapted as the solution evolves. The candidate will be highly involved in the process and once trained, will be expected to listen, learn and contribute on the best approach to accomplish the business' task.Daily activities include: Hands-on C# and .NET programming and design both front-end and server-side Hands-on database design including schema design and business logic implementation Collaborate closely with senior developers to ensure all code is consistent with architectural standards and design Contribute to cross-functional efforts with other development teams (Trading, Portfolio Management, Sales, Compliance, and Operations) in support of enterprise efforts Collaborate with business users to refine application requirements, participating in interim deliverables such as prototype demonstrations, and support of business user testing Hands-on production support, including helping the business solve key deadline-driven issuesTHE SKILLSET 3-5 years of software development experience using Microsoft technologies SQL and .NET skills are required WPF skill a big plus, but WinForms experience at a minimum Must be able to design a database schema after understanding business requirements Must be familiar with writing and modifying stored procedures in SQL Server Good understanding of object-oriented design principles and design patterns Experience in a heavily regulated industry (for example: Financial Services, Pharma, or Insurance) Excellent communication skills Ability to work in a fast-paced environment using a highly iterative release process Basic understanding of financial strategies and the principles of portfolio managementBONUS POINTS Experience working with and/or knowledge of a cash flow or workflow platform Experience with the SWIFT protocol Business knowledge of Corporate Actions Team-oriented, collaborative workstyle Relentless approach towards projects/challenges Ingenious mindset for problem solving Accountable for one's actionsPeople of color, women, and LGBTQ people are encouraged to apply.
