Orthopedics is like a hospital within a hospital as it has everything on the same floor: holding, recovery, surgical, sterile processing. Patients undergo elective joint replacement surgery for knees, hips, shoulders. This is very much a customer service related type of floor as patients have been educated on what to expect before they get surgery and are usually discharged the following day. 

You should have good communication skills and an upbeat personality to help patients during their stay. As an Associate with Saint Thomas Health Svcs-TN, you will have the opportunity to perform basic clinical and non-clinical patient care activities under supervision in the assigned area.

What You Will Do:

Perform basic clinical and non-clinical patient care activities under supervision.

 

• Aid with movement and placement of patients.
• Assist patients with tending to personal care and activities of daily living.
• Report findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to nursing staff. Document necessary records. 
• Keep patient rooms clean, orderly, and maintain medical equipment.

What You Will Need:

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. 
• Nurse Aide credential preferred.

Education:

• High school diploma or GED required.
