Title: Principal Application ArchitectOverview of PositionThe Principal Application Architect works with business and technology leaders to understand the holistic business strategy and then works with product managers, domain architects, senior technologists, and business analysts to identify, define and develop solution-specific, cloud-native, IT architectures and product deliverables to support the strategy.The Principal Application Architect also leads, and actively participates in, the design and hands-on development of incubation and innovation projects including prototyping, proofs-of-concept, new enterprise technology components, and the delivery of products to marketWhat will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?

• Work with product managers, domain architects and engineers to develop modern, high-performing, cloud-native software architectures. The nature of these projects will vary from enterprise platform component development to new product development and existing product re-platforming initiatives to cloud-native architectures.
• Drive incubation and innovation projects including the prototyping and development of proofs-of-concept and delivery of new technology components and products to market
• Provide hands-on engineering support including software development/coding, 3rd party tool analysis, provisioning and configuration.
• Development of enterprise architectural patterns that define best practices for software design and development as well as recommended use of enterprise technologies and services.
• Lead technical aspects of sensitive business advancement initiatives such as M&A, partner evaluations, 3rd party technology assessments and alignment with technology trends; lead tactical technology initiatives and architecture development for special or highly complex engineering projects and new engineering projects requiring senior leadershipWhat are the requirements needed for this position?
  • 8 + years of experience working as a Senior Architect
  • 8 + years of recent experience with hands-on coding (Modern programming)
  • 5 + years analyzing business, technical requirements and data and working with project leadership to formulate cloud-native application architectures and plans for execution
  • A degree in Computer Science, information technology or engineering is preferredWhat other skills/experience would be helpful to have?
    • Proven planning skills and the ability to work with limited supervision and as part of an executive team
    • Very articulate and polished communicator both through oral and in written form
    • Experience coordinating and managing distributed teams of varying size and skill set and working with or as part of an executive team/matrixed organization
    • Proven ability to develop modern, cloud-native architectures for E-commerce scale, SaaS-based products
    • Demonstrable ability to develop software, write and test code via modern programming languages and deploy cloud-native solutions. This assumes principal software engineer/developer or sr. software engineer/developer competency
    • Proven ability to analyze and compose business and technical requirements and work with project leadership to formulate architectures and plans for execution
    • Ability to research, compose, deliver and defend technical presentations to audiences of varying size
    • Ability to participate in multiple, simultaneous projects and move with agility to new projects as required
    • Ability to rapidly ramp-up on new technology and become oriented to new projects in order to be effective in leading and participating as a senior architect and technologist
    • Must possess excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to process complex information and deliver results and recommendations at levels consumable by both technical and non-technical stakeholders. This includes the ability to communicate, strategize and lead other (domain), architects
    • Ability to present and defend technical proposals in front of audiences of varying size
    • Superior analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities
    • Strong leader skills ? works well with people; able to determine roles needed to complete a project; ability to manage project and self effectively; comfortable communicating up & down the org chart
    • Must demonstrate technology leadership skills, demonstrating the importance of good decision making and strategic discipline through example and mentorship
    • Technical and IT expertise with the ability to communicate, strategize and lead other (domain) architects
