Apply today!As a Database Engineer, you will be responsible for providing 24x7 production support for client server systems. You will participate in production support and implementation of databases, design and tune critical high volume OLTP databases, and contribute to database infrastructure enhancements.Your daily duties and responsibilities in this role will generally include:* Providing SQL Server Database Administration support to numerous systems on UNIX, Linux and Windows platforms* Formulating and implementing the team's technical vision, providing hands-on insight into system architecture, data software development and architectural design* Establishing database management systems standards, guidelines and quality assurance for database deliverables, such as conceptual design, logical data model capacity planning, external data interface specs, data loading, data maintenance plan and security policies* Collaborating with data modelers and facilitating interaction between DBAs and data modelers for logical and physical data models* Determining the appropriateness of data storage, archive, purge and backup strategies* Enforcing database standards and procedures* Providing technical leadership and mentoring to others on the teamJob Requirements:As a Database Engineer, you must be a highly technical, analytical and critical thinker. You need to be capable of working proficiently at both strategic and tactical aspects of a project. It is also important that you have excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally and effectively with all levels of staff. Specific qualifications for the role include: --- Bachelor of Science degree, preferably in Computer Science; MIS degree, preferred --- Minimum 5 or more years of hands-on experience with MS SQL of various versions, including SQL 2005 and 2008; 6-10 years' experience, preferred --- Database designing, database performance, management and tuning experience --- Experience with Oracle, Sybase, or SQL Server Database Administration; Java, Perl, and Shell Scripting experience, preferred --- Database and Server Performance and Tuning experience; server build-out experience, a plus --- Experience leading large multi-resource teams with interdependent initiatives to successful completion --- Ability to code complex programs and derive logical processes --- Commanding knowledge of current industry database standards such as Web Services, Object Oriented Development --- Collaborative development techniques as well as knowledge of Project management discipline within Information Technology field --- Strong database design and development experience for very large database applications, preferred --- Experience with SSIS and SSRS, preferred --- Data Modeling experience (Logical/Physical) preferred --- Experience on high transactional systems with 24/7 up times, preferred --- Ability to design, code, debug and maintain database schemas & store procedures, preferred --- Ability to team up with software engineers and produce maintainable data interface layers within applications, preferred --- Ability to develop technical specification and documentation, preferred --- SQL Replication experience, a plus
