Vice President of Operations

Summary Description

The Vice President of Operations will lead several programs within Kepro. This role will be critical in supporting Operations by defining and executing strategies for excellent performance. This position collaborates with others to develop and/or identify best practices and build consistency across contracts. The Vice President of Operations is expected to work closely with key customers, identifying strategic direction and future opportunities for growth. Operations leader, with strong, results driven, relationship management and collaboration skills to ensure the success of program. Strong operational and financial management critical to success in this role.

Accountabilities

Establish productivity expectations to ensure assigned programs achieve financial and contract targets. Identify opportunities for further operational effectiveness through process improvement, re-design, automation, etc.

Ensure headcount is right-sized to the operation, considering attrition rates and new customers, while meeting workload and financial targets. Develop and maintain an operational infrastructure that includes employee skill set requirements, gap analysis, performance management, and training plans. Create and implement effective retention plans in conjunction with Human Resources.

Provide leadership, expertise and project management skills to drive unprecedented success in revenue growth. Provide clear, direct communication to operational directors and other management to ensure consistent understanding of business opportunities, resource needs and profitability goals.

Develop and implement performance measurement reporting system to monitor compliance with existing policies, procedures and other requirements of URAC, ISO, etc.

Comply with contractual requirements within the operation by monitoring critical indicators, deliverables and budgets. Continually evaluate priorities to determine if they are consistent with customer(s) objectives.

Research and interpret appropriate legislation and regulations to identify strategies, new product opportunities and opportunities to capitalize on market changes.

Develop and maintain trusted relationships with key market influencers to support the acquisition of new business.

Participate in contract management strategy sessions, customer visits/presentation, and renewal activities. Identify and engage in “Up-Selling” opportunities to current customers. Identify, initiate, and support project initiatives that add value to the operations. Act as resource, demonstrating the value of Kepro’s healthcare suite of products/services.

Coordinate request for proposal (RFP) responses, including identification of response opportunities consistent with Kepro’s strategic objectives. Lead the response team including the development of timelines and work plans, delegate tasks, complete sections of the RFP, review the final draft product and compiles and submits the final RFP. Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for appropriate programs.

Make presentations to senior management on a wide spectrum of health care issues, primarily related to commercial programs. Deliver presentations to promote strategic and national objectives of Kepro.

Drive and support a “one-company” orientation collaborating with partners across the entire organization; e.g., operations, human resources, IT, business development, data warehouse, contract compliance, etc. Perform cross-regional activities that enhance operating efficiencies.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in health care administration, business administration, public health, nursing, health information administration, or related field required.

Master’s degree in a closely related field is strongly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Strong background within healthcare field including quality, utilization management, managed care, disease management, assessments and eligibility.

Business development, strategic planning and tactical implementation.

Public or commercial sector health plan management.

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite applications and common computer and office hardware and software functions.

Management—counsel, plan and train, while managing various staffing patterns

Program development and implementation

Advanced problem solving and analytical skills

Employee development and performance management

Successfully articulate the mission and vision of Kepro; ability to fluently respond to questions about the Company’s products, relationships, and services.

Leadership skills and ability to influence beyond this role; display a strong ability to build credibility and maintain a high profile in the organization.

Assess people and situations, while demonstrating a natural style to teach and mentor others.

Effectively communicate and influence at all levels within the organization and externally.

Operate in a highly matrixed environment, which includes working with all business units.

Extensive travel throughout the country.

Research, comprehend, correctly interpret and communicate regarding proposed final commercial and state regulations.

Perform detailed and disciplined work using standard methodologies in the analysis, design, development, evaluation, testing, documentation, implementation, and support of corporate health care goals.

Write correspondence, proposals, reviews, audit analysis and technical documentation, as well as present information effectively at all levels of the organization.

Use advanced reason to define problems, collect data, establish fact, draw valid conclusions, and design, implement, and manage appropriate action plans is required.

Experience

Position requires work experience in a complex, competitive environment with diverse racial, ethnic and socio-economic factors.

7+ years of experience in program management for commercial sector health care entity.

Experience with contract administration functions.
