--As a member of the Software Asset Management (SAM) team that focuses on maintaining software license compliance and software license optimization for enterprise desktop and server environments, this role will assist team members in:

  • Analyze desktop software utilization data provided by the Enterprise Endpoint Services (EES) team, in collaboration with license entitlement data, to identify opportunities to reduce desktop product install base. When license optimization opportunities are identified, work with the EES team to effectively leverage Software Asset Management---s automated metering and remediation processes, based on Microsoft---s System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), to efficiently remove the underutilized desktop software.
  • Research and analyze software license purchase and software discovery data and perform reconciliation and remediation tasks to ensure data accuracy and quality
  • Work closely with subject matter experts, including system architects, system administrators, project managers, financial managers and engineers and leverage HCA toolsets to obtain critical information required for effective management of desktop and server software licenses
  • Provide impact assessments on pending or potential architectural or contractual changes, outlining incremental license or maintenance costs due to change and potential cost mitigation opportunities based on license use metrics or product use changes
  • Conduct software license research to support purchasing and contracting requirements
  • Actively assess risk and cost reduction opportunities and make recommendations to Software Owners and Software Asset Management leadership to optimize the software asset portfolio
  • Provide support to the Software Asset Management team in analyzing and responding to software license compliance audits from software manufacturers
  • Manage day to day requests from end-users to fulfill software licensing needsThis position reports to Sr. Director, Asset Management and works closely with the in-house software asset management team, the SAM managed service provider, the IT Procurement and IT Finance staff and company employees at multiple professional levels including executives, project business owners and vendor staff.

    • 30% Assist in integrating a software license strategy across Corp business owners. Help enhance software license harvest models to reduce expense. Identify future software aggregation opportunities and provide licensing costs for solutions that are to be deployed to the enterprise.
    • 25% With direction, gather software procurement data for enterprise entitlement analysis. Assist in the development of a repeatable process to automate the collection and normalization of software license procurement data collected from both direct and in-direct purchases
    • 25% Assist in the creation and governance of Enterprise licensing models, vendor relationships, business/technical relationships with VARs, internal business stakeholders and internal ITG relationships. Provide software license management support to end users. Facilitate relationships between ITG and company employees for purposes of software license use awareness.
    • 10% With direction, provide software license training and be a support resource to employees who deploy software and/or are responsible for licensing compliance. Support asset managers on understanding specific models related to their area of responsibility.
    • 10% Other duties as assigned.Decisions:--
      • Based on procurement data, what is the current license entitlement for a given software product?--
      • How to improve HCA---s enterprise license position to positively influence software contract negotiations with an ITG vendor. These and other similar decisions are made after substantive review, analysis and interpretation of the relevant documents and inquiries regarding the nature of the vendor, product and anticipated relationship. Such decisions will likely have significant organizational impact in the areas of risk assessment and license compliance and financial.

            --This position requires superior judgment, high ethical standards, a strong attention to detail and effective written and verbal communication skills. A successful candidate is comfortable with accountability for decision-making and management authority. Must be comfortable with Microsoft Office products and able to learn and utilize new technology resources as required. Familiarity to Microsoft---s System Center Configuration Manager preferred.
