Technical Director - Production

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Director to oversee the technical aspects of our production events. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in audio, video, lighting, rigging, and staging for live events. The Technical Director will be responsible for the technical planning and execution of all events, ensuring that they are delivered to the highest quality standards.

Primary Responsibilities

• 
  
• Manage and supervise all technical aspects of production events including lighting, sound, video, and staging.
  
• Collaborate with the event producer to determine technical requirements and ensure that they are met within the established budget.
  
• Create and maintain detailed technical plans, CAD drawings, and schematics for each event.
  
• Oversee the set-up, testing, and operation of all technical equipment and systems, and troubleshoot any issues that arise during the event.
  
• Develop a pool of technical staff and ensure that they are trained and prepared and booked for each event.
  
• Develop and implement safety protocols and ensure that they are followed during live events.
  
• Meet with Sales Team to go through details of a client's program and serves as primary client contact once event has been contracted.
  
• Order, confirm and re-confirm all suppliers, develops relationships with supplier/partners, negotiates and contracts terms-of-service and price including, but not limited to: service expectation levels, guarantees, cancellation, billing information, directions, etc.
  
• Assist Executive Producers and Producers with program development according to specifications of client.
  
• Responsible for forwarding any necessary program information to hotel and venue representatives to ensure seamless coordination with venue operations.
  
  Qualifications
  
  • 
    
  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Theater, Audiovisual Technology, or related field.
    
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in technical event production, preferably in a leadership role.
    
  • Extensive knowledge of lighting, sound, video, and staging equipment and systems.
    
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
    
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with event producers, clients, and production staff.
    
  • Experience managing and training technical staff.
    
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities.
    
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret client proposal requirements, contracts, financial reports, and other legal documents.
    
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from clients, supplier partners, and hoteliers.
    
  • Must be able to work well with all levels of management and staff, hoteliers and venue staff, clients and supplier/partner.
    
  • Must be able to work flexible hours including weekends, evenings and holidays.
