The Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center, located at 2800 Opryland Drive, Nashville, Tennessee, 37214 is currently hiring a Lead Horticulturist. Responsibilities include: Monitor the daily activities and performance of the Horticulture team. Provide training to the Horticulture team. Supervise the maintenance of all landscaping, trees, gardens, aquatic life and operation of all horticulture equipment. Organize and plan the maintenance of all plant material. Follow up with horticulture tasks and projects to promote successful, timely, efficient completion. Complete assigned special projects including but not limited to seasonal color displays, floral design and manufacture, Christmas set up and administrative duties associated with all special projects. Supervise irrigation frequency and duration processes. Order supplies, plant and floral materials. Maintain knowledge of trends and developments within the horticulture industry.Assist management in hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, disciplining, and motivating and coaching employees; and serve as a role model. Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures; report defective equipment, accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to manager; complete safety training and certifications. Ensure uniform and personal appearances are clean and professional; maintain confidentiality of proprietary information; protect company assets. Support team to reach common goals. Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time. Grasp, turn, and manipulate objects of varying size and weight. Visually inspect tools, equipment, or machines. Move over sloping, uneven, or slippery surfaces. Move up and down ladders, stairs and/or service ramps. Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistance. Perform other reasonable job duties as requested.
