Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 07:00-19:00 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Current RN license Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Certification, EKG Rhythm Certification Must-Have: Neuro and Cardiac experience Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse in a progressive care unit. The unit consists of 25 beds with a patient ratio of 4:1 during the day and 5:1 at night. Staffing includes 1 Clinical Nurse Coordinator, 6-7 RNs, 2 technicians, and 1 unit secretary. Type of equipment used in the unit includes Alaris Pumps, telemetry tracking, mobile communication devices, B450 monitors, and Pyxis. The documentation system utilized is Meditech. Full-time staff work 36 hours per week, with every third weekend required. Part-time staff work 24 hours per week with every third weekend as well. PRN (as needed) staff are expected to work 3 shifts per month, including one weekend day. There is a floating policy in place to meet the needs of the facility. Registered Nurses will be responsible for triaging acute care patients and identifying life-threatening rhythms. Advanced skills required include glucose monitoring, Foley insertion, dressing changes, EKGs, and peritoneal dialysis. The dress code consists of black scrubs for RNs, royal blue for technicians, and grey for unit secretaries. Closed-toe shoes are mandatory, and crocs are not permitted.
