SUMMARYThe Health Information Management Coordinator provides
clerical support to Health Information Management team. Ensures
that patient medical records are complete.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists with the coordination of medical records under the
supervision of the Health Information Management Manager.
- Audits patient discharge records for thoroughness and
completeness and adherence to policies and procedures (e.g.,
appropriate signatures and dates).
- Reviews Electronic Medical Record for accuracy on discharged
- Follows up on delinquent documents i.e., hospital records,
discharge records, staff entries or continuous care notes.
- Responsible for scanning paper entries to record for archiving
- Files documentation into the medical records as needed.
- Provides clerical support to the Health Information Management
- Serves as contact person for medical records functions in the
absence of the Health Information Management Manager.
- Maintains confidentiality of information related to patients,
families and staff.
- Other duties may also be assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESNo supervision of agency staff is
LANGUAGE SKILLSAbility to read and comprehend simple instructions,
short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple
correspondence. Ability to effectively present information
inone-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and
other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide
in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and
decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw
and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITYAbility to apply common sense understanding to
carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables
in standardized situations.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONSAbility to work on multiple projects
simultaneously with careful attention to detail. Good written and
verbal communication skills. Good telephone skills. Minimum typing
skills. Communication and Relationship Skills: Exemplifies high
level of written oral and listening communication skills, always
respecting patient confidentiality.

QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must
