Your Role:
Procedure LPN spends 50% or greater of their time supporting clinic procedures within the scope of licensure. These responsibilities include being able to independently support departmental clinic based procedures and perform necessary documentation/paperwork. Includes knowledge and practice of independently setting up a sterile field; preparation, set up, and clean up of procedure room; knowledge and independent implementation of sterilization/HLD of procedural instruments and principles/ practice of decontamination and standard precautions. Independently supporting clinical procedural patient care.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains work environment in a safe, clean and orderly manner.
  • Maintains and cares for procedure equipment and supplies.
  • Ability to set up, operate and troubleshoot all basic procedural equipment in clinic.
  • Knowledge of sterile technique and maintenance of sterility of surgical/procedural field with ability to set up sterile field in ambulatory setting for in clinic procedures.
  • Facilitates patient care by assisting the provider before, during and after ambulatory procedures.
  • Completes patient procedural documentation accurately and completely.
  • Prepares instrumentation and equipment according to recommended procedures and techniques in preparation for high level disinfection and sterilization to support clinic procedural operations as needed.

    Dermatology is the branch of medicine dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of skin, hair and nails. The field of dermatology has subspecialties including pediatric dermatology, dermatologic surgery, laser and cosmetic dermatology, and dermatopathology, to name a few.Our experts in general dermatology treat common conditions including acne, eczema, psoriasis, rosacea and warts. We also offer care related to cancer -- melanoma and lymphomas -- and cosmetic dermatology. Below is a list of additional services our department specializes in.

    Basic Qualifications Graduate of an approved discipline specific program (or equivalent experience) and > 6 months relevant experienceLicensure, Certification, and/or Registration (LCR):

    • Licensed Practical Nurse Required
      Additional Qualification Information:





      • Based on regulations from the TN Board of Nursing and VUMC policy, LPNs have the following practice limitations: (1)May NOT initiate the administration of blood or blood products, (2)May NOT administer experimental drugs (research drugs used in studies for anything other than indications for use by the pharmaceutical company), (3)May NOT administer any intravenous chemotherapeutic agents, (4)May NOT administer IV push medication.Additionally:--- Proficiency in sterile field/technique--- Proficient in the administration of numbing or analgesic medications pre procedure if needed.--- Knowledge of procedural instruments
        Physical Requirements/Strengths needed & Physical Demands:





        • Heavy Work category requiring exertion of 50 to 100 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 20 to 50 lbs. of force frequently and/or up to 10 to 20 lbs. of force continually to move objects.
