Director, Business Transformation POSITION SUMMARY: The Director, Business Transformation is responsible for the strategic and tactical management of Lean Transformation over a broad segment of the organization, providing expert knowledge and extensive experience in order to guide continuous improvement, Kaizen and Lean Transformation through Company Executive Leadership. Responsible for transformation programs and education throughout the system with a broad range of stakeholder groups in clinical, operational and enterprise systems areas. This work includes leading larger scale continuous improvement work such as executive level value stream mapping (VSM), strategy/goal deployment (A3), innovation leadership in process preparation / work design (3P), and visual enterprise performance tracking (key performance indicator dashboards). ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Facilitates, guides and participates in leadership strategy of continuous improvement. This encompasses leading large-scale work efforts that may span the enterprise or be in the field. Leads champions, executives, directors and managers responsible for preparation and planning for events, conducting the necessary workshops, implementation, establishing daily management visual controls, and coaching leaders from planning through sustained achievement of performance goals. Assists leadership achieve organizational goals through the use of strategy development and deployment through the facilitation and use of appropriate continuous improvement tools (e.g., strategy A3). Is widely recognized by senior executives as instrumental in achievement of breakthrough performance excellence goals of quality, timeliness and productivity. Coaches leadership on the habits and disciplines of a successful continuous improvement culture. Teaches and trains facilitators on how to apply the most effective process improvement tool based on the situation. Demonstrates continuously how to challenge the status quo and encourage break-through thinking to ensure energetic and systematic application of lean transformation principles. Creates training content for the KaizenOLOGY Institute and AMSURG University. Researches and enables innovative ways to grow the program through networking and community outreach. Assures adherence to KaizenOLOGY (Continuous Improvement) standards and methodologies across the enterprise. Additional miscellaneous duties and responsibilities, as may be assigned from time to time .by employee's supervisor. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required. Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree required. Master's Degree and Lean or similar process improvement certifications preferred. Must have 4 to 15 years of overall work experience with demonstrable growth in scope and responsibility. A Lean expert who has at least seven years of direct experience in Lean facilitation and use of the various tools including: Strategy Deployment, Kaizen, Strategic Value Stream Mapping, Standard Work, Visual Controls Design, and Lean Transformation Innovation (3P.) Experience in coaching and mentoring other individuals to conduct workshops independently. Required: Must be aligned with the model line transformation approach. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. Must also be able to influence through exceptional interpersonal skills. Ability to handle various strategic demands simultaneously. Ability to use tact, judgment and diplomacy in difficult situations. Ability to facilitate an executive team in a variety of scenarios. Adheres to highest models and standards of behavior. Ability to supervise, encourage and retain talented direct reports. Ability to carry large scale improvement initiatives through constraints and resistance. Ability to discern abstract opportunities and properly prioritize them. Understanding of application of ideal principles in the real world. Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals and percentages. Language Skills: Ability to understand, read, write and speak English. Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to successfully write business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information, respond to questions and professionally interact with managers, employees, clients, vendors and the general public. Reasoning Ability: Ability to recognize and define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and correct errors. Ability to understand and interpret basic financial data. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in a variety of forms and deal with abstract and concrete variables. Other Qualifications: Must be able to handle multiple, simultaneous tasks effectively and efficiently while maintaining a professional, courteous manner. Must be able to work well with others. Must be detail oriented and organized. High integrity, including maintenance of confidential information. Must be able to exercise good judgment and positively influence and lead others, including handling confrontations with poise and efficiency. Based on business need, the ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends as approved in advance.
