The leader in this position will direct the DEI strategy in combination with the firm's Diversity partner and will establish education, training, and development plans that create a place of growth and belonging. The position is best suited to a team player with an eye toward collaboration, communication, and someone who fully embraces learning in all its formats, virtual and otherwise. The Director will maintain and create core competency models within groups and teams, work across the platform to establish and implement processes and policies that create a more inclusive and equitable workforce and promote development opportunities within the firm for our people, clients and in our communities.
Together with the Chief Talent Officer, the Director will distill HR data analytics to inform diversity, client, and education initiatives, as well as work with the firm's DEI leadership and affinity groups to implement an integrated approach to development and inclusion. The Director is a hands-on teacher, coach, and firm ambassador connecting across all offices as a strategic partner to firm leadership, consulting on key client and talent initiatives, and strategic goals that allow the firm's lawyers and staff to stay competitive in their practices and service to clients.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee Womble's education processes from practice group and department needs identified through firm leaders and performance evaluations
  • Plan, launch and monitor new hire to advanced learning and diversity objectives to align with the firm's strategic plan and the DEI strategy
  • Create and/or curate content for attorney and staff education, diversity and inclusion training, as well as leadership and advancement programming
  • Supervise the Womble Scholars program in coordination with the Recruiting Team
  • Support affinity groups and related initiatives
  • Manage and evaluate DEI sponsorships and memberships
  • Assist with the creation of engagement and retention efforts across the firm
  • Partner with Talent Management on monitoring and reporting trend analysis against notable benchmarks of various metrics from exit interviews, hiring and retention strategies, promotions, work allocation, employee relations, affinity groups, evaluations, etc.
  • Collaborate with Client Development on DEI strategies for proposal, pitch and other client requests, as well as CLE certifications for in-house programs and business development training workshops
  • Lead our HBCU Succeed commitments across the platform in coordination with key partners
  • Serve as a brand ambassador and thought leader on behalf of the firm in our communities, with the law school and legal communities, and with our clients
  • Provide in-house coaching for individuals and teams, as well as managing vendor-provided coaching arrangements
  • Lead our Gallup Strengths initiatives, training, and coaching resources
  • Engage our associate talent with a first-year entry-level curriculum, as well as partner panel reviews at critical development stages
  • Compile and vet a library of resources and approved vendors to address a multitude of training needs
































    REQUIREMENTS:
    • Bachelor's Degree (B.A.) required, J.D. preferred and 7-10 years or more related development and/or DEI experience
    • Exceptional communication and counseling skill sets a must
    • Proven leader who can demonstrate ability to build consensus and manage change
    • Works well in a fast-paced environment with project management and data analysis capabilities
    • Self-motivated, critical thinker who can create a sense of community
