Pre-Kindergarten Teacher
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree in early childhood education or related field.
(Required)
Valid teaching certificate or in pursuit of certification in early
childhood education. (Required)
Previous teaching experience in early childhood education program.
(Preferred)
Capable of sitting, standing, walking, talking, hearing, and
operating a computer, hand-held learning devices, and interactive
smartboard technology regularly.
Able to reach with hands and arms and occasionally lift and/or move
objects up to 10 pounds.
Ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, students, and
parents.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Strong work ethic and moral compass.

DESCRIPTION
The Pre-Kindergarten Teacher is a Christian professional who
demonstrates Christ's love while helping young children realize and
pursue their full potential - spiritually, intellectually,
physically, and socially. The Pre-Kindergarten Teacher exemplifies
the school's mission and vision to all stakeholders. The
Pre-Kindergarten Teacher understands that as ambassadors for
Christ, students are their first ministry.
This position falls under the Preschool Program and reports
directly to the Preschool Director but receives additional
directional insight from the Head of School.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver lessons: Create and implement daily lessons and
activities that meet developmental milestones for Pre-K students,
including cognitive, physical, emotional, and social
development.
Classroom management: Maintain a positive, structured classroom
environment that fosters learning and respect. Implement
age-appropriate behavior management strategies and set clear
expectations for behavior.
Foster creativity and curiosity: Engage children in hands-on
activities, games, and projects that promote creativity,
problem-solving, and learning through play.
Focus on social-emotional development: Guide children in developing
social skills, such as sharing, empathy, communication, and
cooperation.
Use assessment tools: Regularly assess children's progress through
observations, checklists, portfolios, and informal assessments to
guide instruction.
Collaborate with colleagues: Work closely with other teachers,
staff, and specialists to create a cohesive and enriching learning
experience for the students.
Encourage independence and responsibility: Help children develop
self-help skills such as dressing, restroom use, and following
routines.
Engage with families: Regularly communicate with parents regarding
student progress, behavior, and developmental milestones. Plan and
conduct parent-teacher conferences.
Attend staff meetings: Participate in faculty meetings,
professional development opportunities, and school-wide
activities.
Supervise students: Oversee children during play, meals, and
transitions, ensuring their safety and well-being.
Maintain a classroom environment that models Christ-like
interaction and positively promotes student development while
inspiring a love of learning.
Promote positive social skills, emotional development, and a love
for learning in young children, integrating Christian values
throughout all teaching practices.
Create a developmentally appropriate learning environment that
supports each child's academic, social, and spiritual growth.
Use innovative and creative teaching methods, incorporating
critical thinking strategies, sensory experiences, and hands-on
learning activities.
Develop lessons that contain interactive, age-appropriate
activities.
Instruction and assessment will be differentiated to meet the
developmental needs of each child.
Provide accommodations for students with identified learning
challenges in consultation with the school's learning
specialist.
Actively participate in professional development to improve
classroom instruction and student outcomes, mainly focusing on
early childhood education strategies.
Regularly communicate expectations and progress to students and
parents, providing constructive feedback and support.
Incorporate various communication methods, including conferences,
phone calls, and email.
Proficiently use RenWeb to track attendance, document behavior, and
post lesson plans and grades.
Participate in and initiate collaborative efforts with other
teachers, especially within the early childhood department.
Support and participate in school-wide activities, particularly
those that involve their students.
SCHEDULE
This is the equivalent of a full-time, exempt position, which works
Monday-Friday from 7:15 AM - 3:15 PM with a one-hour lunch break as
commensurate with the hours the school is open. Time off shall
coincide with the NCS teacher schedule and school holidays.
